On the evening of March 16, the "Back" liveshow of singer Tan Nhan took place at Hanoi Cultural Friendship Palace. After 3 weeks of "late appointment" due to the delay of the liveshow at the last minute, the audience's expectations were really immense with the performances of Tan Nhan. The female singer sublimated brilliantly on the stage, while the audience left with regret as if they wanted Tan Nhan to sing more.

In particular, Tan Nhan duet with singer Thu Ha sang the song "Two Country"  - this is also the title song on the shared DVD that those two close friends introduced in early 2018 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of companion from life to music.

Tan Nhan and Thu Ha, a native of Ha Nam, a native of Hung Yen, but both became students of the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music) and are both passionate about pursuing music bearing folk tones. They both won great awards of Sao Mai while they were students of the academy; becoming vocal teachers together, studying for a master's degree together, then studying for a doctorate together again, this year both will defend their doctoral thesis, have a happy family and always stick with each other in life and music as soulmates. So, the two got along very well and harmonized on stage.

In addition to the songs which back about the memories filled with love for the dear countryside, the song "Meeting in the apricot forest" (musician Bao Chung) brings a different, youthful musical space and color to close part 1 of the show. The repertoire is elaborately staged, with a fun auxiliary dance, recreating the border spring atmosphere with the bold cultural colors market of highlands.

Part 2 of the Tan Nhan liveshow with the theme "Crescent Moon" are the songs that have been attached to her name since Sao Mai 2005 - the contest that Tan Nhan was crowned the first prize of folk music. There, Tan Nhan presented to the audience songs that were loved by many people such as: Far Off, The Daughter of La River, Waning moon, Beauty ... Two performances: The Daughter of La River and Waning moon were extremely impressive and beautiful that made the audience constantly have to put the phone on record. The song "Waning Moon", the song that helped Tan Nhan's name sublimate after Sao Mai 2005, captured the audience's hearts during the show. Love, passion, but full of torment, Tan Nhan's singing voice in her vivid loneliness beside the lonely moon image on stage has made those who love her satisfied when seeing a quite clear musical trademark portrait of Tan Nhan.

But, the most surprising thing of the live show, at the same time, the part where Tan Nhan put a lot of effort and concern is part 3 "Back" with the traditional music segment. Ancient songs of traditional Vietnamese music through Tan Nhan's voice with symphony orchestra, electronic orchestra and ethnic group make audiences surprised, excited and constantly appreciated. The audience's relentless applause turned out to be devoted the most to those performances. In this part, Tan Nhan did not stop miraculously "transforming", when she sang the ancient cheo melody "Fateful fate must be indulgence" or "Beauty", while again performing sweet, flattering folk songs of them. "Mutual meet, mutual enlightenment".

In particular, Tan Nhan also made a strong impression when together with Meritorious Artist Dinh Cuong performed the song "Sadly, I miss my mother in the past". The audience gave the two artists much praise and endless applause for this performance. In the audience seats, many eyes were filled with tears when each song of Tan Nhan and Meritorious Artist Dinh Cuong seemed to make everyone's hearts throb, miss their mother with the thanks to birth.

After that, Tan Nhan surprised again when singing with Meritorious Van Ty, the song "No one under my eyes". This is the "xam" song ( folk song) that the author is the first to perform and is considered the standard in the singing style. The appearance of Meritorious Van Ty was also a surprise that Tan Nhan and the crew wanted to give to the audience at the last minute. With "The No one under my eyes ", Tan Nhan is not only extremely well-matched with the Meritorious Artist Van Ty in the singing and singing style, but she also makes excitement  when describing the scene of the wife being sulked and groggy when her husband kept blinking. Tan Nhan's just enough gossiping style makes the song much more sublimated and charming.

And Tan Nhan made the auditorium burst with music and traditional quintessence when she sang "Co Doi Thuong Ngan - The Goddess of  Forest ". The music that is said to be "strange" of this performance combined with splendid staging such as re-enacting the image of Co Doi ( Goddess ) -  the legendary Vietnamese  women in the "Đạo Mẫu" (mother goddesses worship religion) on stage made the audience extremely excited and cheered. The last performance "Co Doi Thuong Ngan" is also the most wonderful thing Tan Nhan wants to send to the audience in the "Back" live show, so when the MC said goodbye, Tan Nhan still wanted to sing and dance, and the audience still wanted to continue listening.

Tan Nhan's transformation in the liveshow is not only in the musical colors she brings from folk songs to traditional Vietnamese music genres, but especially makes a strong impression when Tan Nhan boldly associated with the symphony orchestra has raised musical works to a new level, bringing new ways of enjoying. Compositions by musician Tran Manh Hung, under the command of a talented young conductor, who lives in a family associated with traditional musical instruments since childhood and has been trained for many years in world standard foreign music, has covered the entire auditorium with an epic music space overwhelming the listeners. There, both the freshness of the very different orchestras when blended together brings youth and honors the real musical value that not every artist dares to "risk".

Especially with the traditional Vietnamese music, the audience found that the songs of chèo, "xam", "quan ho", "chau van" still retain their values and their traditional spirit but are very strange, very modern, fresh, bringing them from one surprise to another. The audience was surprised with an "van" song " Sitting sadly miss my mother (Nguyen Duy's poetry) was very familiar, but with the resonance of the string system which made music opened up a more enormous space. Or when performing the " No one is under my eyes"," The Goddess of Forest ", the music with the mixture of rhythms and colors of Western music with Vietnam has really attracted listeners to every rhythm, every word.                                                            

With the first liveshow in her career - "Back", Tan Nhan ventured to give bold and new experiments and the good news, the audience was attracted by Tan Nhan, was infatuated with her music and voice. Tan Nhan's enthusiastic adventure has been successful, bringing the audience a lot of emotions and joy. The audience seemed to discover a new Tan Nhan, Tan Nhan of traditional music with "chèo" - "xam"- "văn" - "quan họ".

People who have not approached traditional music think it is distant, but if they listen to Tan Nhan's show, they will find it very close to Western music. For lyrical characters, there are "Sadly to sit and miss my old mother", "fate which can not deny ”.  There are also songs that made the audience dance, keep bustling like going to see some Rock or disco night, because in our traditional music there are those tunes, but we Not just calling it that way, but calling it in another name  such as "văn"  in the song "Goddess of Forest". Tan Nhan is the one who connects the audiences who are not the audience of traditional music but the audience of Tan Nhan, so that everyone can see that our traditional music is easy to hear and from there they will love traditional art.

But, the musical thinking of the liveshow is the thing worth mentioning. The overall harmony of the program is a contemporary, and contemporary music liveshow here in terms of the terminology of a music genre, which fully covers elements of artistic value, the combination of east and west smoothly in the right according to the music development trend of the world today. Music theory critic Quang Long also commented that, Tan Nhan is also a rare case when artists can sing many traditional musical genres of the nation, he admitted: “Many years in various countries to learn traditional ethnic music, I know how difficult it is to study only one genre, not mention many genres performed in a show like this. As a person who learns about traditional music, I see, Tan Nhan has shown the spirit of each song, each genre. Singing well a variety of genres like Tan Nhan is rare ”.
